I had always wanted a weave, for years, but, living in the LA area, trying to find one that was affordable, and looked good, was pretty much impossible. I had dealt with so many rude stylists in my life, that I gave up getting my hair professionally done. Needless to say, it became a wreck, and I ended up shaving it all off in November of 2006. Anyhow, I'm getting married in July, and I wanted to wear a weave for my big day, but I had never gotten one. After giving up trying to talk to more rude LA stylists, I found Diva's website. From the time I researched the Hairlocs System, up until I got my hair done, took about 6 months. I stumbled upon Divastyles.com while searching the web. I saw the home page, and read about the celebrities that were her client's, and saw the before & after photo's that was "Oh So Professional".
This was the first time I didn't see where the wefts began, and ended or lumps or bumps on someones head. The Hairlocs that I received changed my whole outlook on life again. I was more outgoing, because no longer did I have to worry about my hair, and how I would manage it. The Hairlocs did not tangle when I washed it, it also blended well with my own hair. I washed it, and didn't even have to blow dry or flat iron it, and when I did it was like I had gone to the salon. It was so easy to take care of, it was just what I was looking for. Even when I went back to have them moved up 2 months later did not take long. The price was so affordable. I have definitely found my form of haircare with "Diva" very much a rewarding experience. This is the best thing since sliced bread, I'm not kidding. Half the time I forget I had the hair put in. I drink my water, and take my Noni vitamins like u said. Even when I just wake up and go, I don't need to do much of anything to my hair. I set it on electric rollers, and flat iron it. Being in the military it is very hard to find someone who can style your hair the right way. When I first met Diva, I spoke with her for an hour on the phone about my hair, her road to success as a hair dresser, and her policy. So I pretty much bounced around from stylist to stylist, I meet Diva over five years ago and stuck with her from my very first appointment. When I first meet Diva I had a terrible weave in my hair which she removed ,it was the very first time I had ever had my natural hair styled without it feeling greasy and stiff my hair felt silky smooth and flowed. Ladies in the Dallas area—this one is for you! I currently reside in the Austin, Texas area and have desperately been seeking a true professional that specializes in hair extensions. I had a friend recommend Diva of Divastyles and I was excited to find someone with great talent as well as a diverse portfolio. Immediately, I viewed her website and was extremely disappointed to find out that she no longer serviced the Dallas area due to inconsistency of the clientele there. In order for her to service the Dallas area, she would need 10 pre-booked appointments. This was troubling to me because there is such a need for someone like Diva in Texas. Long story short, I had to make arrangements to fly to Arizona in order to get my hair done. For those who do not know—it was expensive! Let’s do the math, I received a full sewn-in weave with 2 bags of 14-16 inch Indian Remy, hair net, plane ticket and other travel arrangements. My total trip cost nearly $1000.00! I decided to spend the money because I KNEW it would be well worth it—and it was. However, certain expenses could have been avoided if we (Women of Texas) took care of our business and respected the fact that Diva is running one and handled things as such. We are too old for foolishness and games ladies. We always expect the best but try to get something for nothing or very little. I pray we can be the grown women we claim we are and take care of our business so that Diva can bring her magic back to Texas. I do plan on flying back out to wherever Diva is in order to maintain my Fabulousness! My experience was very personal and educational. Diva not only helped transform me into a true DIVA, but she educated me on the proper maintenance and upkeep of my own hair with and without the hair extensions so that I could get the look I truly desired, once I got back home.

I want to take a moment to thank DivaStyles for making LA Fashion Week 2008 such an amazing experience for me.

What impressed me the most was DivaStyle's focus on the health of my hair, I went in for hair extensions but my own hair and its health were the primary focus. My hair was combed through carefully and completely detangled before any chemicals were applied, the sink and the chair were spa comfortable, and the stylist took the time to clip my hair (ridding it of split ends) prior to corn-rowing it & prepping it for the extensions, small simple touches that made all the difference in the world. When my extensions were done my hair was fabulous and even better, my own hair and scalp felt cared for, healthy, and clean which is what makes any hair style truly fabulous. The hair stylist at LA Fashion Week said she didn't even know I had extensions and she was pleased that she was able to style my hair exactly as the other girls in the show.

As a professional model and a customer, I think it's high time that we as African American clients demand more from our stylists, we need to reward stylists who are doing things the "right way" by giving them our business.This will not only guarantee us quality service, it will also force those sub-standard salons to step up their game. We all know that yes there are many stylists out there who cut corners; with bad lighting, expired licenses, older tools, messy stations, over-bookings, and yes that scrimping can save you money, but it can also cost you big time with balding, scarring, and permanent damage to your scalp and hair which are priceless. We must not forget that while the styles can be lovely without a stylist that focuses on the overall health of your hair, in time you will have nothing left to style.
